Background

Naqi was born with Congenital Glaucoma and lost his sight at the age of 7

He attended a mainstream school, being the first person in Pakistan to sit GCSEs with a screen reader.

He went on to do engineering at university, despite the discouragement of countless educators and educational institutions.

Tennis

Naqi moved to London in 2015 in order to pursue his Masters in Systems Engineering at University College London.

He joined Metro Blind Sports, an incredible charity that opens up the world of sports for thousands of people living with visual impairment in London.

Within the space of several months, Naqi attended the trial days of almost 15 sports he never knew had adaptations for people with a disability.

This is where Naqi met Tennis. <3

Tennis

On the court, Naqi enters another world. A world where he can be free to sprint across the court, unassisted, using agility, precision and speed.

He competed in his first international tournament in Spain in 2016 and excelled, winning Bronze and gaining the title of 3rd best totally blind tennis place in the world.
